About the Company

This opportunity is with a fast-moving consumer technology business building a portfolio of AI-powered consumer products aimed at a global audience. The business is well funded, has a strong runway, and is backed by founders with a serious track record of building and scaling consumer internet businesses to significant exits.

The products sit at the intersection of artificial intelligence, prediction markets and AI-generated content, designed to attract and engage users at scale across the world's largest consumer platforms and communities. The engineering and product capability is already world class and the core technology has been built and proven over the past 18 months. What is missing is the growth engine to take exceptional products to a global audience, and that is exactly what this role is here to build.

This is a small, senior, high-calibre team operating with the ambition and pace of a startup that intends to become a category leader. The plan is clear and time-bound, working toward a major raise, listing or exit over the next few years. For the right operator, this is the chance to be the person who pulls the entire growth side together and shares directly in what is built.

Job Overview

We are looking for a senior growth leader to own user acquisition, engagement and retention end to end across a portfolio of consumer AI products. This is not a brand awareness, corporate marketing or agency-style role, and it is not a pure people-management seat. It is a hands-on, commercially driven growth role for someone who knows how to get users in, keep them engaged, and turn marketing spend into measurable, profitable growth.

Working alongside the founders, you will set and execute the growth strategy and then roll up your sleeves and deliver it. Over time you will build and lead a growth team beneath you, shaped around what the products need, but in the early phase you will be close to the work yourself: in the data daily, testing relentlessly, and finding what moves the numbers. You will work hand in hand with the product and engineering teams to improve onboarding and retention inside the products themselves, not just at the top of the funnel.

This role suits a rare kind of operator: someone who understands consumer psychology and internet behaviour deeply, who knows how to make content feel native to each platform, who thinks in probabilities and testing, and who is as comfortable with creative as with analytics. Many of the strongest people in this space have built or grown their own products, audiences or businesses before. If you can show evidence of growing apps, accounts, communities, funnels or products in the real world, this is a role where that track record matters far more than where you studied or what your title was.

Duties and Responsibilities

User Acquisition and Distribution

  • Set up and manage social channels across all major consumer platforms, and build repeatable systems for short-form content distribution.
  • Plan, launch and manage paid campaigns intelligently and efficiently, with a relentless focus on cost per acquisition and return on spend.
  • Identify low-cost traffic opportunities early, before they become widely contested.
  • Develop a deep, working understanding of platform algorithms and how content travels differently on each one.

Retention, Engagement and Lifecycle

  • Build and optimise retention loops, referral mechanics and viral growth across the products.
  • Improve onboarding flows, notifications and email strategy to keep users engaged and coming back.
  • Work closely with product and engineering to improve onboarding and retention inside the products, helping them become genuinely engaging for users.

Testing, Data and Optimisation

  • Continuously test hooks, headlines, thumbnails, creatives, onboarding flows and calls to action.
  • Analyse acquisition cost, retention, watch time, click-through rate, conversion funnels and engagement data to guide decisions.
  • Build repeatable growth systems rather than relying on one-off viral moments, scaling what works and cutting what does not.
  • Study competitors and the wider market consistently to stay ahead of platform and behaviour shifts.

Strategy and Team Building

  • Work alongside the founders to set the overall growth strategy and align spend to clear commercial outcomes.
  • Build and lead a growth team over time, shaped around what the products need as they scale.
  • Ensure every rand or dollar of marketing spend has a clear reason and a measurable return behind it.

Minimum Requirements

  • A proven track record of growing consumer apps, products, audiences, communities or funnels in the real world, with evidence such as analytics, campaigns, retention improvements and growth stories.
  • Strong hands-on experience running paid acquisition across major platforms, managing budgets against cost per acquisition and return on ad spend.
  • Deep understanding of organic and short-form content distribution, and how to make content feel native to each platform.
  • Practical command of conversion funnels, retention loops, referral mechanics, onboarding optimisation, and notification and email strategy.
  • Strong analytical ability, comfortable living in dashboards and making decisions from data on acquisition cost, retention, conversion and engagement.
  • Genuine working knowledge across a broad range of consumer platforms, not only Google and Meta, with the ability to use platforms such as Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, X, Facebook, Discord, LinkedIn and Pinterest effectively. Strong experience across most of these is expected, rather than just one or two.
  • The ability to move quickly, switch between creative and analytical thinking, and operate with real ownership in a fast-paced environment.

Advantageous

  • Experience in mobile content, direct carrier billing or mobile-first consumer monetisation at scale, where acquiring and retaining customers at volume is core to the business.
  • Exposure to consumer AI products, prediction markets, gaming or social platforms.
  • A history of building or growing your own product, audience or business.
  • Experience working remotely with international teams and founders.

  • Strong on pattern recognition, judgement and speed of execution.
  • Comfortable with testing, probabilities and learning fast from both wins and failures.
