The business works as part of an international delivery network spanning several countries, which gives a close-knit local team the reach and technical depth of a far larger organisation.

Clients are large, well-known businesses in regulated sectors including financial services, telecommunications and insurance. Projects involve modernising core processes, connecting fragmented systems and building applications that carry real operational weight, so delivery is properly governed and the standards are high.

 Teams are kept small and technically strong, with genuine investment in professional growth. This is the first dedicated Business Analyst position in the department, which makes it an unusual opportunity to set the standard for how analysis is done across the team.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join high-profile enterprise delivery engagements. The role reports to the Delivery Lead.

This is a business-focused, client-facing role. You will turn business needs into clear, testable requirements and keep delivery teams aligned from discovery through to go-live, working closely with Solution Architects, developers and client stakeholders. The role does not call for a technical or infrastructure background, but it does need someone who understands how software is built and can hold their own with architects and developers.

It suits an analyst with around four years of solid delivery experience who wants real ownership. As the first Business Analyst in the department, you will have room to shape how requirements, backlog management and testing are handled, and you will gain early, practical exposure to how AI and agentic workflows are specified and delivered for enterprise clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements and Analysis

• Lead requirements elicitation through workshops, stakeholder interviews, process observation and document analysis.
• Document and maintain business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows and functional specifications to a consistently high standard.
• Analyse current-state processes, identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and define target-state solutions suited to a low-code delivery model.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI and agentic workflows to client processes, and frame them as practical, well-scoped use cases.

 Delivery and Backlog Management

• Work with Solution Architects and developers to make sure requirements are understood, feasible and traceable through design, build and testing.
• Own and groom the product backlog, support sprint planning and prioritise work with client product owners.
• Track requirement changes and dependencies, assess their impact on scope, and flag risks and issues early to the Delivery Lead.

 Testing and Quality

• Prepare test scenarios, support user acceptance testing and validate delivered functionality against requirements.

 Stakeholder Engagement and New Business

• Keep client stakeholders and the delivery team aligned on requirements, decisions and open questions.
• Contribute to proposals, estimation and solution scoping for new engagements.

 Minimum Requirements

• Around 4 years' professional experience as a Business Analyst on software delivery or digital transformation projects.
• A business-focused analyst with a good understanding of technology. Infrastructure experience is not required.
• Demonstrated experience in requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation, including user stories, use cases, process modelling and functional specifications.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum delivery teams, including backlog management and sprint ceremonies.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops and engage confidently with senior client stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of testing and UAT practices, and of tools such as Jira and Confluence or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a structured approach to documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Johannesburg based and able to work a hybrid arrangement, with occasional travel to client site.

Nice-To-Have

• Experience on OutSystems projects, or on other low-code or platform-based delivery such as Mendix, Power Platform, Appian or Salesforce.
• Regular, hands-on use of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot in your own work, for example synthesising workshop notes, drafting user stories or generating test scenarios.
• Exposure to AI or agentic solutions such as LLM-based assistants, workflow automation or intelligent document processing, with an understanding of how to specify them.
• Some project management experience, such as coordinating a small workstream, status reporting or tracking risks and change requests, or a keen interest in growing in that direction.
• A business analysis qualification or certification such as IIBA CBAP or CCBA, BCS, or OutSystems training.
• Experience with BPMN or similar process modelling notation.
